Completed in 2010, this project converted a 10,000-sq ft pharmaceutical building into a psychotherapy and wellness center that helps physically and mentally handicapped patients gain life skills. The program called for sensitivity to the psychological impact of the layout and identity of the spaces. The design incorporates articulated hallways and color to provide strong visual clues enabling easy navigation by the patients. Separate staff areas allow for improved monitoring and safety, while a double-height cafeteria serves as the main gathering space for all users of the center.
